project 13: standard view

The first two pictures are taken at the same dinner as project 12 but I have focussed in on the hands of the people sat next to me rather than their faces.

These ladies both retired as secretaries in my office last year. I had been their supervisor for some years and they have a young attitude to life and are busier in retirement than ever before. Taking shots of their hands made me realise when I look at the pictures days later that they are the hands of older ladies - I have never thought of them as old before as their attitude is so youthful and I have known them for so long that age hasn't been relevant.

In the first shot, Julia is showing us her Kindle - years of typing have left her with hands that get stiff holding books so she now downloads to her Kindle. We were laughing that the secretary who hated to learn new software in her job is now downloading in retirement.

In the second shot Chris is looking something up in her diary and I noticed that the diary of a retiree was somewhat fuller than my own.

In the second two pictures I have taken during a street parade so I am stood on the pavement looking into the parade, firstly as a small and serious cheerleader passes by and second directly onto the face of a piper as he is stood next to me waiting for the parade to move on.
