project 11: standing back

Taken as people wander around Trafalgar Square in London following the St Patrick's Day parade. In a crowd of so many, and with the majority all taking pictures of their own, it's fairly easy to focus in on a face and use a long focal length to capture them without drawing any attention.

The difficulty in such a mass of people comes as someone walks through the shot and in front of the intended subject.

These shots are of my goddaughters and their boyfriends - using a longer focal length on people already known to you was easy. I've shot this way in order to throw the background out of focus and keep the attention on the faces.
